Movie Review: Fast Five

So…went to the latest installment of The Fast and the Furious movies called, Fast Five last night. The title says it all. It’s all about speed, speed and mo’ speed.

It is enjoyable, action-packed and full of twists and turns. The team of Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and Dominic Torretto (Vin Diesel) has gotten themselves into a corner – Brian broke Dom out of jail – and is on the run. Their journey brings them to Rio de Janeiro and in the lap of their best – and last – job.

Personally, I loved this series. I love the testosterone, muscles, jokes, cars and slickness of it all. When Dom and Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) finally butted heads, I didn’t know which to pull for! What didn’t I like? The scantily clad women used as armpieces for one. Felt a little guilty about wanting thieves to get away with money that wasn’t theirs. Felt even guiltier about not blinking an eye when the “bad guy” got offed. And finally, what I didn’t like the most is the fact that Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel can’t act.

Good thing the action, music and violence overshadowed that fact, huh?
